Okowa/Jandor welcome ADC structure in Lagos to PDP

LAGOS – The Lagos State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has collapsed its structure in the state as it endorses the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Olajide Adediran as their right choice in Lagos also, the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The defectors were received on Sunday 19th of Feb. At the time square event Center in Ikeja by Okowa, He commended their courage for taking such a huge decision, stressing that their national office had done the same in Abuja and Yola a few days ago.

Speaking, the ADC chairman of the chairmen of the local government in Lagos State, Adewole Ijaogbomo noted that the event is epoch-making in the annals of political rejuvenation in Lagos State.

He said, “This act was consummated by concerned Lagosians who had congregated under the auspices of our great party, ADC to rescue Lagos State from the claws of a slave master who had held and still holding Lagosians in the jugular for close to twenty-four years.

“There is no doubt, Lagosians are in existential bondage, and no amount of armchair criticism can solve the problems other than for the like-minded individuals and groups who are desolate and depressed to come together and fight the battle – Hence; the need for this gathering today.

He added, “Before today, we sat down as a group and profiled every political party in Lagos State and their candidates for the Gubernatorial election to identify the best of all who can match the ruling party in terms of structure, spread, tenacity and all other ancillary qualities required for winning the election.

“Based on the aforementioned, we the LGA chairmen of ADC in Lagos State including the ward chapters hereby collapse our structures and through this medium directs our entire structures to mobilize, campaign, and vote all PDP candidates from Atiku/Okowa ticket for the presidential election on the 25th February 2023 and Dr. Abdul-azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) for governor of Lagos State on the 11th march 2023.

Okowa who received them and handed over the PDP flays to them, said, “For those of us that are politicians when we see strength in politics we would recognize it. When we see positive movements that can change things we would recognize them. You have confirmed that you will work with us, Atiku/Okowa and Jando, we thank all of you.

“25th of February is six days away and I know that you are very eager to take over Lagos State and that Jandor will become Governor of Lagos State but the easiest pathway is to ensure that Atiku/Okowa wins the election on Saturday and once that happens by the special grace of God, the so-called ownership in Lagos would have been done with, and you can walk very quickly and take over the government house.

“You have not done the wrong thing because your party at the national level has publicly declared fur Atiku/Okowa tickets.  The declaration was first made in Abuja and was also made in Yola on Saturday. Be courageous and fear not, you will take over Lagos and Atiku/Okowa will take over Nigeria, and we shall work together to give the best to our people and to unify Nigeria and not be divided,” Okowa said.

Jandor who made the defection possible said that the journey to get the ADC on board started over a year

He said, “When they said that they were coming to work for me I told them that they were coming to work for the party from top to bottom and not for me.

“The mission started last year and they ran away at a point. Today they are here. Last week we had the entire structure of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) join us. We will conquer all of them, form a formidable team to win the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.

Wike Allies with Tinubu – Isaac Fayose.

The younger brother of former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, Isaac, has alleged that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state is working for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Fayose made this disclosure in a statement via his Facebook page on Tuesday

He stated, “It’s almost election day. Labour Party (LP) and support groups for Peter Obi need to consolidate in SS, MD (Especially Plateau, Benue), Ondo, Lagos, Kaduna, Taraba. These are the strong regions to get high numbers.

“The SE needs to show its hands massively.

“For SS: Wike is working for BAT, there is a heavy propaganda going on in Akwa Ibom, Okowa is ready for war in Delta, Bayelsa needs a structure to convert, Edo is certain.

“BAT is playing a victim in the SW, and unfortunately, it’s working.”

Recall that Wike has been at war with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after losing the party’s presidential ticket to Atiku Abubakar.

The face off with Atiku led to Wike’s call for the removal of the PDP’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

Wike and the G-5 governors said the party can’t have the North produce the party’s national chairman and presidential candidate.

Their grouse with Atiku and PDP is that a southerner should be allowed to produce the party’s national chairman for balance and equity.

The Lagos state PDP women leader Alhaja Idowu Akinsayan commiserates with Funke Akindele

Lagos State PDP Women Leader, Alhaja Idowu Akinsanya on Wednesday commiserated with the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate,  Her Excellency Funke Akindele on the demise of her mother.

Akinsanya said the death of the mother of the veteran Nollywood actress came as a rude shock “at this period that all the women in Lagos needed her most”.

Speaking with exponent-plus news on the phone after the news broke out through the PDP, media and Publicity Secretary Hon. Alhaji Akeem Amode on a press statement issued out yesterday Feb.7th 2023.

Alhaja Idowu Akinsanyan who put out a video prior before the news broke out to call on Lagos women to support Funke Akindele for the forthcoming election said it’s quite unprecedented currently to hear that PDP has lost the convener of the representative of women in Lagos.

Akinsanyan, however, said that the passing of Akindele’s mother would not deter the campaign towards ensuring victory for the party, pledges that women will use this medium to move closer and support her vision to give back to the women in society and the less privileged.

She said that the party’s Governorship Candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (JANDOR) and Akindele had been doing tremendously well to make sure PDP wins the election.

Madam Akisanya also prays that God will grant her fortitude to bear the loss during this period, and also encourage Lagos women to stand firm and throw their weight behind Jandor and Funke Akindele as a mother during this crucial period. Says, this will not weaken their effort neither dissuaded them from the dream ahead, rather make them stronger and be focused.

Moreover, she urges all PDP members to keep praying for Funke Akindele during this trial period that God will be with the family and make their hearts strong.

Election2023: Atiku is a Grandmaster He Will Succeed Buhari – Senator Ogunwale

Sen. Kola Ogunwale

……..Tinubu, Obi Relying On Regional Votes

Senator Kola Ogunwale the chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who represented Osun Central in the Red chamber of the National Assembly from 2003 to 2007 has thrown weight behind Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the party to win the 2023 presidential election.

The former lawmaker while speaking with Exponent-plus news emphasized that the former Vice President has a national spread unlike the two other frontline candidates, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, who rely on regional votes from the Yoruba in the South-West and the Igbo in the South-East respectively.

Sen.Kola Ogunwale noted that the level of harm done to the country by the ruling APC for the eight years it has acquired leadership is enough to compel Nigerians to vote for the main opposition party.

He further said, “The future of the PDP is very bright in the presidential election because Tinubu is relying on sectional votes, he is banking on the Yoruba votes from the South-West, Peter Obi is banking on Igbo votes from the South-East, while Atiku, our presidential candidate is relying on votes across the country. Atiku will get the Hausa-Fulani votes, he will get his share of votes from Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, and Ogun States, and he will also get votes from the South-East.

He added, “If you look at the state of the country, how much do you buy a liter of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) now? We were buying PMS for N100 per liter, and now it is N400 per liter. To fly by aircraft from Lagos to Abuja now costs N150,000. So, who wants to continue with that?

However, the former senator emphatically stated On whether the position of the G5 governors of the party and their supporters who have not reconciled with Atiku, not likely going to negatively affect their chances at the polls, Ogunwale said, “What do they have? Didn’t you see when Atiku visited Ibadan, Oyo State? I am one of the organizers of the Atiku walk and it was very successful.

We met that large crowd in a state belonging to the G5, what is the meaning? In Rivers State, there is nothing Wike can do. There is nothing the G5 can do. Atiku is a grand master, he has done it before, and he will do it again. I doubt that he lost the other time. They had a discussion, and that discussion carries the day.”

On his advice to the people of the South-West region ahead of the forthcoming election, he said, “I will advise them to apply wisdom and if they live in this environment where a bag of rice that used to sell for N10,000 is now N42,000, and there is somebody who said that he was the one who put Buhari there, and he was unable to advise him, what is that person coming to do again as President? Nothing!

My people of the South-West, vote for Atiku so that the price of rice will come down to N10,000 as it was before, petrol will go back to N50 per liter, and flight tickets from Lagos to Abuja will return to N30,000. I urge my people to take my advice and vote for Atiku.”

Why I chose Funke Akindele As My Deputy Governorship Candidate~ JANDOR

The PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran also known as Jandor speaks on his choice of choosing the Nollywood veteran Funke Akindele as his deputy.

Jandor spoke during the continuation of his gubernatorial ward tour in Ikodoru on the 10th of January at the compound of Late Mrs Adeniran Ogunsanya in Ota-ona ikorodu after he visited 149 wards in Lagos out of 245.

Dr. Adediran said he picked Funke Akindele to keep up with the promise he made with Late Mrs. Adeniran Ogunsanya the former Lagos SSG during his struggle.

Jandor narrated how the ikorodu amazon stood by him during the race before he pulled out of APC to PDP. He said the late Mrs. Adeniran Ogusanya was the only female who believed in his dream of becoming Lagos state governor.

He stated further that he selected Funke Akindele to fulfill his vow for the people of ikodoru to run an all-inclusive government and also to balance gender inequality.

Moreover, he said, “I am happy that I fulfilled the pledge I made before God and Mama and the result of the pledge is Funke Akindele that is right before me today”.
