Ekiti-born chef Damilola Adeparusi has been the talk of the town since she embarked on a cook-a-thon to compete with the likes of India chef Latan Tondon who broke the Guinness Book of Record in 2019 and recently-yet-to-be-confirmed Akwa Ibom chef Hilda Baci who just completed 100hours cook
Her case has stairs social media with different controversial talks, and jabs from different angles just because Hilda Baci is yet to be confirmed by the organizers of the Guinness Book of Records.
Media Guru and a business tycoon Mr. Akin Adeoya has recently posted on his Facebook page on his view on Chef dammy.
The Ifaki Ekiti-born writer took to his page to speak from another angle on behalf of Damilola Adeparusi which he titled: “LET DAMMY COOK‘
He wrote “Hilda and Dammy are not on the same planet. Cooking is just an extension of Hilda’s vast resources, but cooking is all Dammy has got to offer. At least as far as the eyes can see for now.
Hilda has made her fame. The GWR, if approved is just an icing on the cake. Why should Dammy wait for Hilda? I thought we are taught to run our own races? Time waits for no man. Or woman!
GWR will have to first make a ruling on Hilda’s effort before coming back to Dammy’s attempt. So no matter what, if Hilda was going to get it, Dammy will not be stopping her. Hilda will probably get a short reign. But a reign is a reign!
This contest, if one may call it that, makes me remember the story of David and Goliat. Hilda is the Goliat. She got everything going for her. But rugged and determined underdogs can pull surprises, as David did. The thought of a Dammy pulling through with this feat is tantalizing to me.
People should focus more on the drama, the effort and the contest and and lets enjoy the show rather than castigating Dammy for making the effort too closely. Why should Dammy wait for Hilda? Are they sisters or relations or do they belong to thesame team?
Shebi we are taught all the time not to run other people’s races. Dammy has decided to run her race. It’s not the kind of race I am bold enough to run, given Baci’s massive effort and following. But that is what I find so intriguing and impressive about Dammy”.
The nerve!
I wish her well
